PEARS is designed for healthcare providers who see pediatric patients but do not take PALS because it is beyond their scope of practice. The main focus of PEARS is prevention and, specifically, the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk for shock, respiratory distress and cardiopulmonary failure.
The course includes video-based instruction, instructor-led discussions and the opportunity for participants to practice assessment, recognition and stabilization skills using different scenarios in a team concept environment.
