Pediatric Regional Anesthesia Fellowship

|

Program Director

Adrian Bösenberg, MBChB, FFA (SA)

Program Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Seattle Children’s and the University of Washington is offering a non–ACGME Accredited Fellowship in regional anesthesia medicine.

Applications are invited for this unique opportunity to acquire the skills required to provide safe regional anesthesia in children of all ages. This fellowship focuses on advanced regional anesthesia techniques using ultrasound and nerve stimulation. The training will help develop competency in placement and management of regional anesthesia blocks (both injections and catheter techniques) in children of all ages. Time and opportunities for academic development in education and clinical, laboratory or outcomes research focused on regional anesthesia are available.

The ACGME has attempted to improve pediatric anesthesia resident education by implementing core competencies and to establish minimum regional block numbers. The Seattle Children’s program has exceeded the 70 centile for all regional blocks performed by pediatric anesthesia fellows over the past five years. Seattle Children’s Hospital is also a founding member of the Pediatric Regional Anesthesia Network (PRAN). This 10-center network is a rich source of data available for academic projects.

Length of fellowship: 6 or 12 months
