Parking at the Main Campus

Valet Parking 

Ocean Parking: Free valet parking is available for patients and families in Ocean 8 parking from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Drop your vehicle off at the Ocean 8 driveway and receive a valet ticket from Seattle Children's staff. When leaving, give your ticket to the staff at the valet booth on Ocean 8 and we will bring your car to you.

Emergency Department: Free valet parking is available to Emergency Department patients and families from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Drop off your vehicle at the main driveway in front of the Emergency Department entrance. See the ED waiting room staff for assistance.

Garage Parking 

Children’s Hospital provides free parking for visitors, patients and families. Most lots are open 24 hours a day. They are monitored by closed-circuit television.

For families and visitors going to patient rooms or the Wright Auditorium, please use Lot 1, located across from the River entrance on Penny Drive. Follow signs to the River entrance. View campus map.

Emergency Department: When Emergency Department valet parking is not available, there is an additional parking in Lot 4 across Penny Drive from the Emergency Department entrance.

All other families and visitors, please use Ocean parking. The three levels of Ocean parking are numbered to correspond with the hospital's levels 6, 7 and 8. All levels have direct access to the hospital. See patient, family and visitor entrance hours at the bottom of the page for more details.

Large Vehicles 

Vehicles up to 6'10" park in Lot 1 or on any level of Ocean parking. Vehicles 6'10" to 8'4" park in Ocean parking on level 8. Vehicles over 8'4" park in Lot 4.

Parking Escort Service 

Security Services will provide escort service to any person wishing assistance to return to their vehicle in any parking lot. Call the hospital operator at (206) 987-2000 to request assistance.

Driving Directions to the Hospital

From the North 

  1. Take I-5 south to exit #169, NE 45th Street.
  2. Turn left (east) at the stoplight onto NE 45th Street.
  3. Go 1.5 miles, passing the University of Washington.
  4. At the bottom of the hill, turn left at the stoplight and continue on NE 45th Street.
  5. NE 45th Street will bear left, becoming Sand Point Way NE.
  6. Turn right at the stoplight onto Children's campus.

From the South 

  1. Take I-5 north to exit #169, NE 45th Street.
  2. Stay in the right lane.
  3. Turn right (east) at the stoplight onto NE 45th Street.
  4. Go 1.5 miles, passing the University of Washington.
  5. At the bottom of the hill, turn left at the stoplight and continue on NE 45th Street.
  6. NE 45th Street will bear left, becoming Sand Point Way NE.
  7. Turn right at the stoplight onto Children's campus.

From the Eastside (Highway 520) 

  1. Take 520 west over the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge.
    There is a toll to cross the 520 bridge. You will not have to pay right away, and there are no tollbooths. The owner of the vehicle will get a bill in the mail. Tolls could be up to $5 one way, depending on the time of day. Visit WSDOT Good to Go! for more information on tolling.
  2. Take the Montlake Boulevard E exit (north) for 1.1 miles.
  3. Bear right onto NE 45th Street, which becomes Sand Point Way NE.
  4. Turn right at the stoplight onto Children's campus.

From the Eastside (I-90) 

  1. Take I-90 across the Mercer Island Floating Bridge to I-5 north.
  2. Take I-5 north to exit #169, NE 45th Street.
  3. Stay in the right lane.
  4. Turn right (east) at the stoplight onto NE 45th Street.
  5. Go 1.5 miles, passing the University of Washington.
  6. At the bottom of the hill, turn left at the stoplight and continue on NE 45th Street.
  7. NE 45th Street will bear left, becoming Sand Point Way NE.
  8. Turn right at the stoplight onto Children's campus.

Bus Information

Metro bus routes #31, #32, #65, #75 and #25 stop at Children's main campus.

Routes #30 and #74 stop within a 10-minute walk.

Bicycling Directions

From the south: Access the Burke-Gilman Trail at the University of Washington. Travel north past University Village, cross NE 45th Place via a wooden trestle, and continue riding north to NE 50th Street and Railroad Avenue NE. Turn right off the trail and onto NE 50th Street. Cross 40th Avenue NE after stopping. Turn right onto the sidewalk at Sand Point Way NE. Cross Sand Point Way NE on the crosswalk to Penny Drive. Bicycle parking for visitors is located at the River entrance, which is the first right off Penny Drive.

From the north:Take the Burke-Gilman Trail southward. After crossing 40th Avenue NE, take the first left off the trail at NE 50th Street and Railroad Avenue NE. Riding on NE 50th Street, cross 40th Avenue NE after stopping and continue to Sand Point Way NE. Turn right onto the sidewalk at Sand Point Way NE. Cross Sand Point Way NE on the crosswalk to Penny Drive. Bicycle parking for visitors is located at the River entrance, which is the first right off Penny Drive.

Patient, Family and Visitor Entrance Hours

River, level 3 

Staffed by Greeters daily, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Staffed by Security all other hours.

All non-emergency patients, families and visitors wishing to enter the hospital after visiting hours can request entry from the security guard after 8 p.m.

Ocean, level 6 

  • 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Closed weekends

Ocean, level 7 

  • 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Ocean, level 8 

  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Closed weekends

An employee photo ID badge will open these entrances at any time.

Emergency Entrance 

Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All patients and families with emergencies should enter through the outside Emergency Department (ED) entrance, unless they are wearing an Emergency ID pass provided by the ED.
