Scheduling an Appointment with Urology

Has your child been referred to Children’s Urology Clinic for one of these reasons?

  • Wetting accidents during the day or night
  • Frequent, painful or urgent urination (peeing)
  • Blood in urine (pee)
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vesicoureteral reflux (when urine backs up into the kidneys)

If NO, call 206-987-2509 and press 1 to schedule an appointment.

If YES, follow these steps:

  1. Take the required Children’s Urology Parent Seminar (CUPS).
  2. Try the recommended treatment guidelines from the seminar.
  3. Schedule an appointment if guidelines do not work for your child.

Children’s Urology Parent Seminar (CUPS)

You must take this seminar before we can schedule an appointment for your child in the Urology Clinic. A urology nurse specialist and provider run the seminar. During the seminar, you will learn:

  • About the urinary system
  • Current medical research about common urinary problems or conditions
  • The best treatments for these conditions
  • More about your child’s condition by getting tools. For example, you will get a daily log to track how often and how much your child urinates (pees). You also will get a questionnaire to complete.

At the end, you and your child will be ready to follow recommended treatment guidelines to help with your child’s problems. You also will get materials to take home. Please try these treatment guidelines daily for at least 4 weeks. However, your child’s urinary problems are likely to take longer than 4 weeks to improve.

Recommended Treatment Guidelines

We ask that you try these recommendations daily for at least 4 weeks. Your child’s urinary problems are likely to take longer than 4 weeks to improve. But, if after 4 weeks, you have followed the treatment guidelines and have not seen any improvement, call to set up an appointment with our Urology team.

Scheduling an Appointment

We will only schedule an appointment if you have taken the required CUPS seminar and tried the seminar treatment guidelines for 4 weeks. If you are not seeing any improvement, call 206-987-2509 and press 1 to set up an appointment with Urology.

What happens at the appointment?

We will review what you have learned and worked on since the seminar. The nurse will review your child’s health history and talk to you about what has changed since the seminar. Based on this information, our team will make more recommendations to help with your child’s needs.
