Advances in our understanding of the immune system have led to better anti-rejection medicines for heart transplant.

Survival for infants, in particular, has improved dramatically in recent years. Statistics show that children less than 1 year old at transplant who survive the first year have more than a 95% chance of survival to age 4.

Transplant provides a better quality and duration of life for many children with complex congenital heart disease.
