Dr. Stanley Stamm: A Quiet Hero
Learn more about why Dr. Stanley Stamm started the camp and how his vision has impacted children with complex medical conditions.
Each August, Seattle Children’s Stanley Stamm Summer Camp gives nearly 100 children with chronic medical conditions the chance to go fishing, ride horses and take part in other typical summer camp activities at a week-long sleepover camp near Mt. Rainier.
Our camp, founded by Seattle Children's heart specialist Dr. Stanley Stamm, includes a Seattle Children’s medical team and a fully equipped infirmary so that children who are unable to attend other camps due to unique and often complex medical needs can join in the fun.
Stamm Camp is subsidized by our generous donors so families don’t have to pay a fee.
Stamm Camp in the News
Since our founding, we have relied on philanthropy. In honor of the camp’s 50th anniversary in 2016, the community that loves Dr. Stanley Stamm and his camp came together to raise $1 million to keep the camp going for another 50 years.

Seattle Children’s Stanley Stamm Summer Camp welcomes campers between the ages of 6 and 14 who have been patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital as an inpatient or outpatient.
Camp dates for 2017 are August 14 to 18.
Please email Ursala Schwenn, Stamm Camp clinical coordinator, for more information or a camper application.
Volunteers help provide a fun and safe environment for children participating at Seattle Children’s Stanley Stamm Summer Camp. We would not be able to offer this incredible experience to our campers without dedicated medical and non-medical volunteers.
Camp dates for volunteers in 2017 are August 13 to 18.
As volunteer positions are limited, you must commit to one full day to be considered as a camp volunteer. Volunteers committing to three days or more will have priority. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
To be considered as a volunteer for Stamm Camp, a completed volunteer application, Washington State Patrol form and volunteer disclosure statement must be received by May 1.
A pre-camp orientation meeting is scheduled at Seattle Children’s for Saturday, July 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the small dining room near the Sound Café on level 7. First-time volunteers are highly encouraged to attend this orientation.
For more information and to request a volunteer application, please email Jason Lane.
