About Neurosurgery
Under the leadership of Dr. Jeffrey G. Ojemann, Seattle Children’s Neurosurgery Division treats conditions like hydrocephalus, brain and spinal cord tumors, craniofacial anomalies, epilepsy, congenital/developmental anomalies of the brain and spinal cord, spine disorders, vascular diseases of the brain and spinal cord and trauma.
Our neurosurgeons perform challenging, highly technical surgeries. We use state-of-the-art equipment and the most advanced surgical techniques.
We work closely with specialists – in fields like neurology, plastic and reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation medicine – to ensure that each child gets the personalized care he needs, from evaluation and diagnosis through follow-up. Together, we work to improve health and quality of life for thousands of children.
As a national referral center for children with Chiari malformation and craniosynostosis, we treat patients from all over the United States. We see more than 70 new patients with craniosynostosis each year. Children’s is also a national center for hydrocephalus surgery as well as clinical and basic science research aimed at curing hydrocephalus.
The division is part of the Department of Surgery at Seattle Children’s and the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington.
