Seattle Children's General Cardiology Services
The Heart Center provides a full range of general cardiology services - for heart problems that children may have at birth (congenital) and for problems that may happen later in life (acquired).
What services do you offer?
When babies, children or teens have signs or symptoms that may come from a heart problem, we see them to determine if their heart is the cause. Examples are
, chest pain, fast heart rate and fainting.
Our team diagnoses and provides ongoing care for heart defects, both simple and complex. These include
atrial septal defect
ventricular septal defect
patent ductus arteriosus
transposition of the great arteries
hypoplastic left heart syndrome
tetralogy of Fallot
We also treat and provide follow-up care for
. This is the leading cause of heart disease in children who were not born with a heart problem.
To evaluate your child, we will examine them, and we may use tests such as an
. The tests that your child needs will depend on their symptoms and what we find during their exam.
What's special about the experience at Children's?
More than 25 heart doctors (cardiologists) work together at Seattle Children's to provide general cardiology services just to children. They have many decades of combined experience. All are board certified or board eligible.

Some of our patients keep seeing our team at Children's even after they become adults. This is important because some patients still need care from experts in heart problems that start in childhood. We also work closely with doctors at UW Medicine when our patients are ready to move into care with doctors who treat adults.

provide general cardiology services at Seattle Children's main campus, at Seattle Children's South Sound Cardiology Clinic in Tacoma, at Pediatric Cardiology of Alaska in Anchorage, at Seattle Children's Montana Cardiology Clinic in Missoula and in Central Washington.
They are supported by other cardiologists in the Heart Center who have special expertise in

They work closely with your child's cardiologist to plan and deliver your child's treatment so your child gets the best heart care before, during and after surgery.
We also have cardiology clinics in Bellevue, Everett, Federal Way, the Tri-Cities and Olympia one or two days a week.
