Genetic Counseling

Prepare for Your Visit to Genetic Counseling

  • Before you meet with a genetic counselor, we will ask you to gather information about your family history. The genetic counselor will want to know of any relatives with genetic conditions, birth defects, multiple miscarriages or early or unexplained deaths. The genetic counselor may also ask you to provide medical records for review.
  • If you, your child, or another family member has had genetic tests, the genetic counselor will want a copy of the test results to review before your visit.
  • For more information on visiting Children's clinics, please see Your Child’s Clinic Visit.
