Phase II Research Study: Radiofrequency Ablation of Tumors in Children

Seattle Children's and the University of Washington are offering a phase II research study of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of tumors in children.

The RFA procedure is performed under anesthesia with needles placed into the tumors and then heated to kill the tumor. This can be performed as an outpatient or inpatient procedure.

All children under 21 years old who have tumors or lesions may be eligible for this research study. Dr. Fred Hoffer and his study team will determine eligibility based on current treatment and other available options.

RFA at Seattle Children's is available as a standard of care. The research protocol will allow us to more closely follow your child's quality of life, and the response of the tumor. One or more follow-ups, conducted over at least three months, may be required.

If you are interested, please contact Dr. Hoffer directly, or have your physician contact him by e-mail, pager (206-469-1598), phone (206-987-2134) or fax (206-987-2341).
