About Registration:

How do I register for a class?

All registration is now available online. Browse to the class you would like to attend from the Classes and Events page and choose "Register Online." Most of our class registration is done by the Great Starts program. You will need a credit card number and an e-mail address to register through Great Starts.

For free classes and some of our other classes with a fee, you simply need an e-mail address for confirmation. You will be lead through either registration process by selecting 'Register Online'.

If I use the online registration system am I confirmed for the class?

If you register for a class through the Great Starts program, you will receive a confirmation e-mail when you complete the registration process and pay with a credit card.

If you register for a free class or another class with a fee that uses a form from Seattle Children's Web site (not the Great Starts program), you will receive an e-mail confirmation shortly after submitting the online form.

Note: occasionally, the system allows people to register when there is no longer room in the class, so you are not confirmed until you receive this e-mail. There is no wait list available for free classes. If the class is full, additional class dates will be posted online when available.

Why do I have to register for a free class?

Because Seattle Children's classes are very popular and our classrooms have limited space, we ask that you register to confirm your place in the class. If for some reason a class has to be canceled, we can inform you in advance.

Is my personal information secure?

The online payment system uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software with the latest encryption technology designed to keep your personal information safe.

All of your personal information — including your name, address and credit card number — is encrypted for maximum security. Your personal information cannot be read as it travels to our registration system. If you submit an e-mail registration, your information is kept confidential and deleted from the system after you attend the class.

Will I be placed on a mailing list if I register for a class?

No. You will only receive messages specifically related to the class you signed up for (confirmations, cancellations, etc). You will not receive any other e-mails, mailings or phone calls.

If a class is full, how do I get on the wait list?

There are no wait lists for free classes and classes not registered through the Great Starts program.

For classes registered through the Great Starts program, you may be offered a wait list option when registering. Names will be added to the wait list in the order the requests are received. (Please note that being on the wait list does not mean you are automatically added to the next class date.) Should a spot become available in the class you are wait-listed for, you will be contacted.

If you are still interested in attending the class, you can finalize your registration and pay the class fee within two business days of the notification. If no spot becomes available, you will not be contacted. If you are on a wait list, we suggest registering for the next available class in case you do not get into the wait-listed class.

If I am on a wait list for a class, can I also register for another class in case I don't get into my preferred class?

Yes. We encourage you to complete registration for a class that has room available. Should a space become available in your preferred class, we will contact you and offer to transfer your registration to your preferred class choice. This transfer is free.

How do I transfer or cancel a class?

All free classes and those not registered through the Great Starts program can be canceled using the online e-mail registration system.

Browse to the class you had registered for, click "Register Online" and complete the form. In the 'Additional Comments' field, note that you are wanting to transfer or cancel your registration. If another class is available on a different date, you may simply register for that class. You can also transfer or cancel for one of these classes by calling 206-987-2486.

To cancel or transfer a class with a fee, please call 206-789-2306. You may cancel a class and get a refund or transfer a class three or more business days before the class date for a $10 transaction fee.

If a class has to be canceled due to weather conditions or instructor emergency, how will I be notified?

We make every effort to avoid canceling classes. In the event of a cancellation, we notify the class via e-mail as early as possible, which is generally the morning of the class date. If you do not respond to the e-mail, we will call the number you provided during registration. Registration staff will contact you via e-mail with rescheduling information within a few days.

If you are unsure if your class has been cancelled, please check your e-mail, if possible, before calling Registration 206-789-2306 or Seattle Children's Operator 206-987-2000.

Road conditions around Seattle vary greatly, so if your class is not cancelled, but you feel it is unsafe to drive, please stay home and contact Registration to reschedule your child's class.

My child has a disability, can that be accommodated?

Yes. All classrooms at Seattle Children's are wheelchair accessible. To arrange for a sign language interpreter or for other needs, please contact the Children's registration line at 206-789-2306.
