Places to Swim and Enjoy Water in King County

Swimming is a fun and great way to get exercise. Knowing how to swim is a skill that can help keep you safe. There are many places for children, teens, families and adults to enjoy swimming in King County. These handouts can help you find a pool, boating program or beach in your community.

Drowning Prevention Events

  • April Pools Day and Summer Splash-Tacular are annual events for children and families to go to a local pool or beach and learn valuable water safety skills and knowledge. A variety of water activities and games make these events non-stop fun for everyone!

    April Pools Day is usually the third Saturday in April. Some pools may hold their April Pools Day event on a different day. See a list of participating pools (PDF).

    Summer Splash-Tacular event dates vary by pool or beach.

  • Have fun and be safe around the water with custom-fit life jackets for the whole family. This program is a partnership between Seattle Children’s and Seattle Parks and Recreation.

    • 2017 Dates:
      • Saturday, July 15: Green Lake (Evans) Pool, 7201 E Green Lake Dr. N, Seattle, WA 98115
      • Saturday, August 12: Rainier Beach Pool, 8825 Rainier Ave. S, Seattle, WA 98118
    • Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Cost: $20 for infant, child and youth sizes; $30 for adult sizes
    • Sizes available: infant to adult. The person you are buying the jacket for must be there for proper fitting. Children must be at least 6 months old and 18 pounds to be fit.
