CPR and First Aid for Babysitters

In this class, students will learn about:

  • Injury prevention
  • How children act when something is wrong
  • How to identify and care for common illnesses and injuries
  • How and when to call 9-1-1
  • Child CPR and AED
  • Infant CPR
  • How to help a choking infant or child

This class is intended for pre-teens and teens, ages 11 to 15. If your child is over 15 years old, please register them for Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED.

All students get a Heartsaver Pediatric CPR AED Student Workbook. At the end of the course, students receive an AHA Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.

Classes are currently offered in Seattle by Seattle Children's Athletic Trainers Program. Instructors are credentialed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Classes fill up quickly and there is no waiting list.

Where are the CPR and First Aid for Babysitters classes held?

CPR and First Aid for Babysitters classes are located at Seattle Children's Hospital, 4800 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105.

Free parking is available in Lot 1, the first lot on your right as you drive up Penny Drive. To get to the classroom, exit the parking garage and cross the driveway to the River entrance. You will be required to stop at the Greeter Desk to get a badge before accompanying your child to the classroom, RC.3.905.

If a class is full, is there a waiting list option?

There is no waiting list for these classes. We encourage you to check back often, as spots do open up occasionally.

All class registrations close at 12 midnight two business days prior to the class date, after which time no new registrations can be accepted. Please do not show up to a class hoping for an available spot, as instructors cannot accommodate walk-ins.

If I have more than one child and want them to attend the same class, do I have to register each child separately?

Each student must be registered separately. The class fee is $60 per student and there is no discount for registering multple children. You will need to complete the full registration process for each child.

Do parents attend the class with the students?

No, parents do not need to attend class. Parents should accompany their pre-teen or teen to the classroom and return to the classroom to pick them up at the end of class.

How do I transfer or cancel a class registration?

To transfer an existing registration to a different CPR and First Aid for Babysitters class with open spaces or cancel a registration, call Seattle Children's class registration line at 206-987-9878. There will be a $10 transaction fee. All class registrations close at 12 midnight two business days prior to the class date, after which time no new registrations, transfers or cancellations can be accepted.

Is lunch provided?

No. Please pack a lunch, snack and water bottle. There are no food or beverage options available.

How will I know if my child's registration is confirmed for the class?

A confirmation message will appear on the screen once you have sucessfully registered. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you entered at the beginning of the registration process. If you do not receive a confirmation email but believe that you have registered, please check your spam or junk folder for the confirmation email. If it is not there, please contact Seattle Children's class registration line at 206-987-9878.
