Art and Creativity Development (Basic)

In this 60-minute class, adult participants will engage in the following activities under the guidance of an instructor, with the support of caregivers or aides as needed. No prior experience and/or proficiency is required.

Activities include:

  • Creating, viewing and sharing of artwork
  • Exploring the senses through art (e.g., touching paint, wet clay and soft fabrics)
  • Soothing with art
  • Using a variety of media that can be used for creative expression, including pencils, pastels, paint, clay, craft supplies and sand trays
  • Working on individual and group projects

This class is intended for adults age 18 and older with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. Participants who require a 1:1 aide or caregiver are required to bring this person with them to class.

We strive to meet each person’s individual needs by incorporating their unique interests and personality into each art session. Individual instruction and demonstrations will be given at each session.

This class is offered through Seattle Children’s Alyssa Burnett Adult Life Center. Learn how to enroll
