Child Health Advice: Baby
These guidelines (topics) are intended to help you determine how sick your child is and if you need to call your child's doctor. Their second purpose is to help you treat your child at home when it is safe to do so.
IMPORTANT! Your doctor's advice and your good judgment should always take precedence over information in these guidelines.
- Colic (Crying Baby < 3 months old)
- A child < 90 days of age has the sudden onset of unexplained crying.
- Dehydration (Drinking Fluids, Decreased)
- Child drinks less than normal amounts of fluid which can lead to dehydration.
- Diaper Rash
- Any rash in the skin area covered by a diaper.
- Irritability / Fussiness (Crying Child > 3 months old)
- Excessive crying, irritability or fussiness.
- Jaundiced Newborn
- The skin and whites of the eyes are yellow.

- Umbilicus (navel) has a cloudy discharge or bleeding occurs from umbilical cord's point of separation or separation is delayed past 2 weeks.
