Online registration is available for all classes.
Pre-registration and payment are required for Preteen classes. No one will be denied admission if unable to pay the full amount, but seating is limited, so please register online now. For additional questions, call Great Starts at (206) 789-2306.
Class locations are available through the online registration system. Refunds of registration fees, minus $10 for processing, will be given for cancellations received at least five working days before the program. If you need to transfer to another session, there is a $10 transfer fee.
Youths 11 to 13 years of age learn responsible babysitting by studying basic child development, infant and child care, safety, how to handle emergencies, age-appropriate toys, business hints and what parents expect.
Students receive take-home information and a coupon for $5 off Children's CPR for Babysitters class. You can also receive the discount on CPR for Babysitters if you have registered for, but not yet taken, Better Babysitters. Remember to click the "Multiple Program Discount" box when registering.

This CPR class is for youth ages 11 to 15 who have completed a babysitting course. Topics include infant and child CPR, choking and safety. Each student receives an American Heart Association Basic Life Support certificate good for two years.
This class is co-sponsored by Great Starts Birth & Family Education. Class size is very limited, so please register early.

This two-part class is recommended for boys 10 to 12 years old and a parent or guardian. The sessions focus on what both the child and parent should expect as boys begin adolescence. The class is two hours in length on two separate days.
Topics include: body changes during puberty, popular myths about growing up, behavior and attitude changes, what boys need to know about girls and how to communicate about the experience of adolescence.

This two-part class is recommended for girls 10 to 12 years old and a parent or guardian. The sessions focus on the physical changes of puberty and menstruation, what girls need to know about boys, social issues and sexuality. The class is two hours in length on two separate days.
The goal is to create an opportunity for pre-teens and a trusted adult to receive information together in an engaging format and relaxed atmosphere. We emphasize family communication and resources to support young people on their journey through adolescence.
