Your commitment, our support.
Dear Nursing Colleagues,
Seattle Children's nurses are experts in caring for the very ill child and the healing child. Our nurses know a child is — most importantly — a member of a family and a community. They know that healing has many dimensions, and are committed to honoring the dignity of each child and family.
One sign of the impact and success of nursing at Children's is Magnet designation, which we received in 2008.
The expertise, compassion and commitment of our staff make our accomplishments possible. Our efforts become powerful through the collective influence of the work done by each nurse and each nursing unit. As chief nurse, it is my job to enable that work to flourish.
I trust that as we support you — with training and education opportunities, state-of-the-art-facilities and equipment, shared governance and comprehensive benefits — you'll provide the best possible patient care, which creates a healing environment for our patients and a true sense of engagement for you.
If you are ready to do your best work and to make a difference that will last far beyond today, we welcome your application.

Shared Governance Model
Children's is committed to recruiting and retaining excellent nurses, and we believe that nurses are more attracted and committed to organizations where they experience a greater sense of autonomy and control over their work environment. Shared governance enables nurses to be part of the decision-making process in matters that affect nursing practice.
The hospital brings decision-making authority to the point of service through shared governance in the form of four councils that work with a Nursing Assembly:
- Evidence-based Practice Council
- Nursing Professional Development Council
- Operations Council
- Quality Practice Council
