One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon Raises $1.07 Million

106.1 KISS FM raised 1,073,427.12 for Seattle Children’s during its 11th annual “Jackie and Bender’s One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon”

106.1 KISS FM (KBKS), a Clear Channel Radio station, raised 1,073,427.12 for Seattle Children’s Hospital during its 11th annual “Jackie and Bender’s One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon” which took place Feb. 29 and March 1.

Radio hosts Jackie and Bender brought the stories of Children’s patients, families, staff and volunteers to their listeners across the region, who responded with generous donations.

“Seattle Children's is so fortunate to be celebrating our 11th Radiothon with Jackie & Bender. They continue to inspire listeners to give by sharing the amazing stories of patients and their families,” said Michele Smith, member, Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. “It’s because of our very generous community that Children’s is able to provide the best pediatric care available in the Pacific Northwest regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Thank you Jackie & Bender and all the listeners of KISS 106.1 for your incredible support.”

Funds raised through Radiothon will be used for the Children’s Greatest Needs Fund, allowing the hospital the flexibility to fund projects and programs that advance its mission to prevent, treat and eliminate pediatric disease. Children’s is an important part of the safety net for the region’s children, and with the generous support from community members the hospital is able to deliver on its mission.

“You would think I'd be used to it by now, but our listeners continue to blow me away with their level of support for Seattle Children's Hospital,” said Bender, 106.1 KISS FM Morning Show host. “Year after year, at the start of Radiothon, the goal always seems to be a daunting task, but by the end, I find myself wondering, ‘Why were we so nervous?’ The audience has always come through, and this year was no different. I can't thank everyone enough for their donations. It means more than they can possibly imagine.”

Online donations will be accepted through the weekend at www.kissfmseattle.com. Listeners can also text in a $10 donation by texting the word CARE to 50555.

Jackie and Bender’s One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon is co-presented by the John L. Scott Foundation and Kirmac Cares for Kids. The John L. Scott Foundation is funded by the volunteer donations and efforts of John L. Scott sales associates and employees. The Foundation contributes to 18 children’s hospitals throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Kirmac Cares for Kids program is funded by a percentage of income from vehicle repairs. Kirmac sponsors and volunteers time at fundraising events which benefit Seattle Children’s and BC Children’s Hospital.
