Seattle Children's First Pediatric West Coast Hospital To Offer Mobile ECMO

Born with a rare heart condition, three-year old Hannah Campbell’s life was saved using ECMO, which stands for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation—a heart-lung machine. Seattle Children's is now the first pediatric hospital on the West Coast to offer a mobile heart-lung machine outreach program and Dr. Michael McMullan, pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon, shows KING 5 a mobile version of ECMO which now has the ability to save lives of children regardless of geographical location. A team from Seattle Children’s will now be able to treat and then transport fragile children from six states, including Hawaii.
