We Are Seattle Children’s: Gabriel Pigotti Memorial Guild
When Gabriel Pigotti (pictured at left) unexpectedly passed away last year at age 33, his family wanted to do something to honor his life. “Losing Gabe has brought tremendous sorrow, but it has also inspired many of us to honor his spirit,” says his brother, Gerry Pigotti. He adds that Gabriel was a kid at heart and loved children. Together with other family members and friends, Gerry formed the Gabriel Pigotti Memorial Guild in May 2013.
Just one month later, guild members hosted the Gabriel Pigotti Memorial Guild Track Day at SIMA Raceway in Sumas, Wash. Supporters gathered at Ferrari of Seattle for a car rally to SIMA Raceway and then competed in a series of endurance go-kart races, where 12 teams raced around the track for two hours each. The guild crossed the finish line with $70,000 raised for the Child Life Department at Seattle Children’s, which provides patients with opportunities for therapeutic play, art activities, stress reduction and distraction.

Friends of Costco Guild Celebrates Its Silver Anniversary
Congratulations to the Friends of Costco Guild, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013. Jan Sinegal founded the guild in 1988 with a few friends who were also new to the Seattle area. Early fundraisers included “Bowling for Dollars” events, sales of license plate frames and participation in the Purchase a Miracle campaign. In 1999, the guild presented the first Children’s Golf Classic, and the annual event has since become the largest charity golf tournament of any hospital in the nation. Thanks to the dedicated guild members who work year-round on the Golf Classic, this incredible event has since made the single-largest gift to uncompensated care at Children’s each year, and the Friends of Costco Guild has raised a tremendous $75 million for Seattle Children’s. To celebrate the guild’s anniversary, guild members and their guests gathered at The Harbor Club in Seattle on Oct. 9.
It’s an Honor to Be Nominated…
Each year at the Guild Association Annual Meeting and Luncheon Celebration, our board of trustees recognizes superior guild support with the Anna Clise Award for Individual Achievement and the Chairman’s Award for Guild Excellence. Who do you think deserves the honor of being nominated this year?
Among their other accomplishments, winners of the Anna Clise Award for Individual Achievement have demonstrated excellence in guild leadership roles, volunteer work in the hospital or in Seattle Children’s Bargain Boutiques and support for Children’s through donations and bequests.
Guilds that have won the Chairman’s Award for Guild Excellence have demonstrated consistent fundraising success, growth or maintenance of membership, strong participation in Guild Association–wide projects and support for other guilds’ events.
Complete nomination criteria are available on these forms. You may also email Melissa Cardenas or call 206-987-6806. The deadline for submitting nomination forms is March 21.
