Intergenerational support strengthens our thrift stores

Intergenerational support strengthens our thrift stores. In Redmond, Kimberly and Brooke Williams (left) join their grandmother, Virginia Williams, and Isabelle Gahard (center) helps out with her grandmother, Eilyne Levy. Bria Lund (far right) lends a hand with her mom, Lynne Lund.

It's not too late to add to your New Year's resolutions one that will support children in our region all year long. Become one of the 300 volunteers who support the daily operations of Seattle Children's six thrift stores.

The retail outlets are experiencing a volunteer shortage, and giving just four hours of your time each week can make a huge difference to your local store. Consider volunteering during your guild's less busy times. It's a great way to support Children's year-round. We would not have been able to provide an estimated $402,000 in net revenue for uncompensated care in fiscal year 2010 without volunteers.
